  • Usability testing (unmoderated and moderated)

  • Measuring metrics such as task completion rates

  • Delivering insights: Comments and observations

RESEARCH QUESTIONS
  • How discovery of communities happens in the application?

  • How user friendly is onboarding process?

  • How easily the user is able to discover and navigate the Explore section?

  • How the user is able to create post, comment and reply?

PARTICIPANTS SAMPLING
  • 24 participants

  • Fair mix across age (18-60), geography (PAN India Tier 1 and 2), gender

  • Consume content: Movies, webseries and TV shows

  • Fair mix across 3 cohorts: Discuss about content online, Discuss content offline, See others discussing but do not participate

TEST PROTOCOL
  • The protocol started with introduction of instructions for the usability test, followed by introduction of 4 tasks one by one around the research questions.

  • While the participants were performing the task, the researcher was observing around how the participants are navigating through the workflow.

  • Post each task, mainly 3 questions were asked: what did you like about the task, what did you dislike and if there was anything missing in the flow. For each of these questions, reasoning around the answers given by participants were also asked (why?).

INSIGHTS

With respect to insights, there were two types: observations and comments mentioned by the participants.

The insights were around:

- Discoverability of a functionality (where the users are clicking to discover)

- The workflow users take versus the ideal/happy flow

- Expectation around purpose of a functionality versus the purpose it is designed for

- Attention capturing cues (3 seconds test)

- Localisation of texts

- Feature requests
