  • Initial concepts testing

  • Tree testing for the navigation of existing security product

About 6-8 product proposition and strategy stakeholders along with Experience Research and Design participated in the workshop.

The discussion revolved around stakeholders' assumptions, hypothesis and key questions they are trying to get answers for. The researcher in collaboration with stakeholders, finalised aspects such as QoQ research roadmap, insights they can expect against the research questions, success KPIs and tentative cohort of users to recruit.

- Product decision making
- Product usage and adoption

- Product design revamp

STAKEHOLDER ALIGNMENT WORKSHOPS
USER INTERVIEWS

Based on the research questions, recruitment of users and semi-structured interview's discussion guide was prepared.

12 units of a product users and non users were recruited belonging to UK based SMEs.

For analysing the user interview data, Indi Young's data synthesis approach was followed. The analysis was also done based on insights for different user cohorts and the final insights sharing also gave certain How Might We questions to ideate upon. Some of the key insights that we got from the interviews were around:

SMEs are concerned about cyber attacks and

cybersecurity is a management priority.

However, smaller SMEs without dedicated IT

teams often perceive cybersecurity as less

important when busy. Some SMEs with basic

security are worried, while others feel

confident using the same systems as

competitors. And, providing a list of existing

customers can help build assurance for

choosing BT as a vendor.

From the user interview insights, a Jobs to be done (JTBD) framework was created alongside HMW questions distribution across the user journey. These were used to ideate upon.

JTBD focused on: when trying to..in this situation..people struggle to.. and want to feel and be perceived as..

OTHER RESEARCH

Other than user interviews, certain research questions were also around testing certain value propositions and concept. Also, against certain research questions, tree testing was also done.

The concept testing was clubbed with the user interview. Whereas, for tree testing, unmoderated test on usertesting.com was done with 30 units and having 19 tasks. Due care was given on not to give any hints around the product name the users had to navigate towards in the test.

For concept testing, there were certain Likert Items questions around:

- Rating on ease of understanding the content of the page
- Level of agreement for the structure of the page is helping in navigating the page easily
- Level of agreement for the content on the page is enabling the desire to explore more information about the product page

IMPACT
  • Alignment across 10+ stakeholders having different research questions and catering to all via a reasearch roadmap.

  • Improved/ directional alignment for navigation via the tree testing results and for copy

  • Clubbing of different research themes for faster delivery of research results

  • HMW and JTBD workshop generating 20+ voted ideas

  • Increased user knowledge for stakeholders, helping aid better strategic decisions
